I Believe Omega-3s Are One of the Best Investments You Can Make in Your Health
If you asked me what supplements I think are worth looking into for pretty much anyone, omega-3s would be an important choice.
Not because they provide instant relief.
Not because they're the latest trend.
Actually, they're kind of boring, have been around for a long time, and maybe that's exactly why they don't get much love.
Most people spend a lot of time chasing the next big thing. The newest workout. The newest diet. The newest supplement that's supposed to change everything instantly.
But, something as foundational as getting enough omega-3s often gets left behind.
For me, I realize health is less about finding the easy shortcuts and more about building a solid base. Exercise. Sleep. Eating enough protein. Drinking water. Doing my best to take care of my body today so hopefully it takes care of me twenty years from now.
Omega-3s fit that goal perfectly.
So...what are omega-3s?
Omega-3 fatty acids are healthy fats that our bodies need but don't produce efficiently on their own. That means we need to find ways to get them from food or supplements.
The two forms most people hear about are EPA and DHA. They're found primarily in fatty fish like salmon, sardines, and mackerel and have been studied and studied and studied, for their role in supporting heart, brain, and eye health.
Why I feel they're worth thinking about
One thing I've learned as I age is that health isn't usually about one giant decision. And if I ever feel one choice makes all the difference, I'm always disappointed.
It's hundreds of little choices.
Getting enough sleep.
Taking a walk.
Lifting some weights.
Choosing a healthier meal.
Omega-3s fall into a choice category as well.
Research has shown they can play a role in supporting heart health, and prescription-strength omega-3s are even used under medical supervision to help lower very high triglyceride levels.
Scientists have spent years studying how omega-3s support normal brain function and overall wellness throughout life because these fats are an important structural component of the brain and eyes.
That doesn't mean they're a miracle pill. No supplement replaces eating well, exercising, managing stress, or getting enough sleep.
But when you put enough good habits together, they can make a difference over time.
Why I use OmegaGuard
Personally, I take Shaklee OmegaGuard because I like knowing exactly what I'm getting from a company I've trusted for years.
Could you get omega-3s by eating fatty fish a couple of times each week? For sure! In fact, organizations like the American Heart Association encourage people to eat fish regularly as part of a heart-healthy eating pattern.
But if you're like a lot of people, including me, you may not eat enough fish consistently. Or really much at all.
For me, OmegaGuard is a simple way to help cover the fact I don't eat much fish.
My biggest takeaway
I've stopped asking, "What's the one thing that'll change my health?"
Instead I ask, "What small things can I do regularly for the next ten years?"
Those are typically the things that matter most.
Omega-3s aren't exciting, or the new thing.
They're just one more solid piece in a foundation.
And sometimes that's exactly what good health looks like.
